North Korean Foreign Ministry calls Blinken ‘low-level diplomat’

Director of North Korea’s Department of Foreign Affairs, responsible for policy towards the US, Kwon Jong Gun, has called US Secretary of State Antony Blinken ‘a low-level diplomat’ who prefers the use of force to solve problems and ‘is unable to understand the essence of international relations,’ Report informs referring to TASS.

According to Kwon Jong Gun, during his visit to China, the US Secretary of State made ‘threatening statements’ about joint ‘military measures’ with South Korea and Japan that China will not like and will be taken if Beijing does not put pressure on Pyongyang. According to Blinken, only China can influence North Korea.

“After saying such nonsense, Blinken gave himself away: he is just a low-level diplomat advocating diplomacy based on force, and not an experienced and intelligent person, as he presents himself. He is not able to understand the essence of relations between countries,” he added.

The North Korean Foreign Ministry repeated that the cause of tension on the Korean Peninsula lies in the ‘hostile policy’ of the US, which ‘encroach on the sovereignty and security’ of North Korea. Until Washington abandons such a course, Pyongyang will not restrict or adjust the forms of exercising its right to self-defense.

He also noted that the DPRK will respond asymmetrically to US provocations on the Korean Peninsula. “The United States must understand that it will face security challenges and more realistic threats due to the increased deployment of strategic assets and more frequent military exercises of an overtly aggressive nature under the pretext of protecting allies,” reads the statement.

“We take this opportunity to seriously warn that the scope and range of North Korean countermeasures will be expanded significantly and proactively in the event of an increase in US military activity and provocations on the Korean Peninsula and in the region,” he added.
