NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will soon visit Türkiye to discuss Sweden's membersip.
According to Report, speaking at an informal meeting of the alliance foreign ministers in Norway, Stoltenberg said the date of the visit is unclear yet.
Sweden's Foreign Minister Tobias Billström said the country had met Türkiye's criteria for the ratification of its application to join NATO by adopting new anti-terrorism legislation.
In May last year, Finland and Sweden applied for NATO membership amid events in Ukraine. The accession requires the approval of all member States. Türkiye first blocked the application process, but on June 29, Türkiye, Sweden and Finland signed a security memorandum, which, according to the alliance's secretary general, takes into account all Ankara's concerns related to the fight against terrorism and restrictions on the supply of weapons.
