The NATO Council on Wednesday approved a 2027–2031 common financing plan that sets the framework for investments in the alliance's defense and civilian projects.
According to Report, citing NATO's press service, the decision was adopted in line with the alliance's growing ambitions amid a more complex security environment.
Under the plan, allied countries agreed on military and civilian budgets for 2027, as well as financial limits for NATO's security investment program, raising total funding to €6.5 billion.
The North Atlantic Council also endorsed a €27 billion plan through 2031 to modernize fuel depots, pipelines, and fuel transport and distribution systems.
Under the document, these investments will upgrade existing fuel storage and distribution infrastructure. The plan includes the construction of new pipelines in NATO's eastern and southeastern regions and ensures the supply of essential energy resources to maintain the alliance's full combat readiness.
