Moscow comments on possible Lavrov-Blinken talks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will attend to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken's request for a phone call when his schedule allows, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay attention to this request when time permits. Now he has a busy schedule of international contacts: the SCO Ministerial Council in Tashkent, bilateral meetings," Zakharova said.

Earlier, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that the American side is working to organize a conversation between Blinken and Lavrov.

Not specifying the date, he said the US continues to discuss this through the appropriate channels.

However, Price indicated that Blinken only intends to touch on a number of topics, and it will not be the talks about the crisis in Ukraine. He also noted that this conversation, if held, cannot be considered a return to normal interaction between the United States and Russia.
