The Moldovan government intends to impose sanctions against 25 Russian citizens, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MFAEI) Nicu Popescu said in an interview with local media, Report informs.
Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that Chisinau would not join the Western sanctions against Russia, but on Friday, speaking in parliament with a special appeal to MPs, she stressed that the authorities of Moldova chose an exclusively European direction of development. Sandu announced plans to join the EU by 2030, and also stated that the CIS does not help the development of her country.
“Moldova is gradually joining the anti-Russian sanctions that the European Union introduced earlier. In a few weeks, the government will introduce sanctions against 25 Russian citizens. This is mainly a ban on entry to Moldova, freezing bank accounts or assets of those persons who are somehow involved in the aggression against Ukraine," Popescu said.
