Moldova extends state of emergency for 60 days

Moldovan Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita voiced the need to extend the state of emergency in the country, expiring this week, for another 60 days, Report informs via TASS.

“The Commission for Emergency Situations recommended today to the government and parliament to extend the state of emergency for another 60 days. This is necessary to manage the crises and risks that our country is facing,” Gavrilita said at a government meeting.

During the period of the emergency regime, the Commission for Emergency Situations will be able to introduce rationed consumption of natural gas and other energy sources, allocate funds from the budget, coordinate the work of the media and take other emergency measures. The republic has been living in the state of emergency since the end of last year due to possible interruptions in gas supplies. Then the conflict in Ukraine was named as the reason.
