US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo arrives on May 13 with a brief unplanned visit to Brussels for talks with the European Union on Iran.
Report informs citing the TASS that the information was confirmed by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini upon arrival at the meeting of the EU Council at the level of foreign ministers.
Mogherini said she was informed during the night of Pompeo's arrival to Brussels where EU foreign ministers are gathered for a regular monthly meeting.
“We will be here all day with a busy agenda. So we will see during the day how and if will manage to arrange a meeting. He’s always welcome obviously, but there are no precise plans at the moment,” Mogherini said.
"Our position on Iran is unchanged, we stand for the preservation of the nuclear deal and its implementation by all parties," Mogherini said.
Earlier, the media spread the information that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo canceled his visit to Moscow and is heading to Brussels.
