French President Emmanuel Macron was not injured in two explosions that occurred near the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus, according to the Elysee Palace, Report informs.
"Emmanuel Macron is safe, unharmed, and his visit is continuing as planned," the French presidency said in a statement.
Earlier, two explosions were reported near the hotel where Macron was staying during his official visit to Syria. Shortly before the blasts, the French president's motorcade had left the hotel and headed to the presidential palace for talks with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.
Media reports said the incident was caused by explosive devices. There have been no reports of casualties, and no group has claimed responsibility. Authorities have cordoned off roads around the area and stepped up security measures.
