Macron: French police and gendarmerie to stay in New Caledonia

Reinforcements from the French police and gendarmerie will stay in New Caledonia for as long as necessary, French President Emmanuel Macron said during his visit to the archipelago.

"The security forces that will be deployed in New Caledonia in the next few hours will remain there as long as necessary. The priority is to restore republican order," he said on the social network X.
