Lithuania, Estonia among top five eurozone countries with highest unemployment

Lithuania and Estonia were among the leaders in the eurozone countries in terms of the unemployment rate, according to the statistical agency Eurostat, Report informs via Lithuanian media.

In August, 13.027 million people were unemployed in the EU, of which 10.925 million were residents of eurozone countries. The unemployment rate in the EU in the last summer month was 5.9%.

Spain led among countries in terms of unemployment rate in August (11.3%). It is followed by Greece (9.5%) and Finland (8.2%).

Lithuania and Estonia were next, both at 7.9%.

In the EU, the country with the lowest unemployment rate in August was the Czech Republic at 2.6%, while in the eurozone it was Malta, where unemployment was 3%.
