Lightning strikes kill at least eight people in eastern India

At least eight people have died and dozens have been injured in the eastern Indian state of Odisha by lightning strikes during monsoonal thunderstorms, Report informs via TASS.

The loss of life is reported to have occurred in the countryside while the peasants were working in the fields. Lightning casualties have been reported in the state capital, Bhubaneswar, where precipitation reached 258mm due to showers on Monday.

Lightning strikes killed 907 people in India in 2022, according to official figures.
