Kuwaiti residents banned from leaving country without COVID vaccination

The Kuwaiti government has announced new measures to counter the coronavirus pandemic by prohibiting nationals from leaving the emirate without an entire vaccination course and imposing certain restrictions on entry into the country, Report informs, referring to TASS.

The new rules will come into force on August 1, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reports.

Government spokesman Tariq Al-Muzram said at a press conference that Kuwaiti citizens would only be able to leave the emirate after receiving two doses of any of the state-approved vaccines. “This doesn’t apply to pregnant women and those categories [of residents] who, due to their age or health reasons, in accordance with the certificates issued by the Ministry of Health, cannot receive the vaccine,” reads the report.

In addition, non-citizens of the country will be able to enter Kuwait if they are fully vaccinated with one of the three jabs approved in the emirate - Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna - or after receiving at least one dose of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

At the same time, arriving persons should have a negative PCR test done no earlier than 72 hours and pass another one within seven days after arrival.
