Kuwait detects first case of omicron strain

Kuwaiti doctors discovered the first case of the new omicron coronavirus strain in a citizen of one of the European countries, who had visited an African country before arriving in Kuwait.

Report informs citing RIA Novosti that the official representative of the Ministry of Health of Kuwait Abdullah al-Sanad said on Wednesday.

"The first case of the omicron strain was detected in a European man, who arrived in Kuwait, after visiting an African country, where people infected with the strain was first found. Previously, he was vaccinated with two doses of a vaccine approved in his country. The patient has been isolated since his arrival in Kuwait in line with the approved in the country protocols," said the representative of the Ministry of Health.

Earlier, the first cases of the omicron coronavirus strain were detected in Saudi Arabia, neighboring Kuwait, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates.
