Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan united in grief after tragic plane accident

In the aftermath of the tragic Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash near Aktau, Kazakhstani officials, members of parliament, and residents of the capital are visiting the Embassy of Azerbaijan to express their condolences and support.

According to the Kazakhstani bureau of Report, the tragedy has caused profound grief not only in Azerbaijan but also in Kazakhstan, where the people and officials continue to express their sincere sympathy and support.

Deputies, Kazakhstani senators, and members of the Mazhilis visited the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan to leave messages in the book of condolences opened there. Residents of the capital continue to come to the Azerbaijani Embassy in Astana, leaving flowers and toys as a sign of their shared sorrow.

On December 25, an Embraer aircraft operated by Azerbaijan Airlines, flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed near the Kazakhstani city of Aktau. The plane carried 67 people, including 37 citizens of Azerbaijan, 16 from Russia, 6 from Kazakhstan, and 3 from Kyrgyzstan, as well as five crew members. The incident claimed the lives of 38 passengers, while 29 people, including three children, survived.

By order of President Ilham Aliyev, December 26, 2024, has been declared a day of mourning in Azerbaijan in memory of those who perished in the plane crash.
