Jeju Air CEO: Crashed plane had no problems before crash

Specialists found no problems during the pre-flight inspection of the Boeing 737-800 aircraft belonging to South Korean company Jeju Air before the air crash, said Jeju Air CEO Kim E-Bae, Report informs via Yonhap.

"There were no signs of malfunction in this aircraft," he said.

He noted that specialists need to analyze the black box data, including communication between the aircraft captain and air traffic controllers.

"Government authorities should determine the cause of the incident as part of the investigation," he added.

Jeju Air, whose plane crashed in Muan, South Korea, has stated that the crashed Boeing 737-800 had been operating without accidents for 15 years, Report informs via the Yonhap agency.

At around 9:07 local time, a Boeing 737-800 aircraft operating Jeju Air flight 7C 2216 from Bangkok to Muan, South Korea, with 181 people on board, missed the runway during landing at Muan Airport and crashed into a barrier.

A fire broke out.

"This aircraft is 15 years old and had not experienced any accidents before. Information about possible malfunctions is currently being clarified," the company said in a statement, promising to determine the exact causes and circumstances of the incident.
