Japanese protesters demand return of South Kuriles

Members of Japanese ultra-right organizations took to the streets around the Russian diplomatic missions in Japan on the 77th anniversary of the USSR's entry into the war against Japan. The protesters demand the return of the "northern territories" - that's how Japan calls the southern islands of the Kuril chain, Report informs via Russian media.

Representatives of ultra-right organizations drive around the block where the Russian Consulate General in Osaka is located and chant slogans. On the streets leading to the Russian diplomatic mission, barriers were installed, and guards were deployed. The protesters read out a text demanding the return of the islands in front of the gates of the Russian consulate:

"The Northern Territories are Japanese territory. Return the northern territories back - the islands of Habomai, Shikotan, Kunashir and Iturup!"

A similar rally is taking place next to the Russian Embassy in Tokyo.
