Japanese authorities will cancel the mandatory testing for the coronavirus COVID-19 for arrivals who have received three vaccinations. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is quoted as saying by Bloomberg, according to Report.
Kishida said the easing of restrictions will come into effect on September 7.
He added that the authorities will also decide soon whether to increase the entry quota from 20,000. Earlier this week, Japanese media reported that the government plans to allow 50,000 passengers to enter the country daily.
Bloomberg notes that the Japanese prime minister made the statement via video link from his residence, where he is in isolation due to coronavirus infection.
Entry into Japan is still restricted to Japanese citizens, as well as those with long-term and pre-issued tourist visas. In addition, in June, the Japanese authorities allowed foreign tourists to visit the country in organized tourist groups.
