Japan sees record-high temperature

The scorching heat currently gripping Japan has sent the temperature shooting up to 41.1 degrees Celsius in the central Japan city of Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

The figure reached 10 minutes past noon on Monday, ties the country's record high, recorded in Kumagaya City, Saitama Prefecture, in July 2018.

Weather and health officials urge people to be on the alert to avoid the risk of developing heatstroke.

Japan sees hot weather throughout the country in August. In Tokyo, the temperature currently reaches 35 degrees. The warm weather will continue in the coming days.

Last year, more than 70,000 people were hospitalized with heatstroke symptoms due to the heat, and 126 of them died.
