Japan lifts sanctions on Wagner PMC chief's mother

Japan has removed eight individuals from its sanctions list, including Violetta Prigozhin, the mother of Wagner PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Report informs, citing Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that additionally, Colonel Georgy Shuvaev and General Oleg Tsokov were also removed from the list. They died during military operations in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

In September, Violetta Prigozhin was also removed from the European Union's sanctions list.

Sanctions against Violetta Prigozhin were initially imposed in February 2022. She was identified as the owner of Concord Management and Consulting LLC, which was linked to Yevgeny Prigozhin. In 2023, the EU Court found no evidence of business connections between Violetta and Yevgeny Prigozhin.
