Jamaica receives first doses of COVID vaccines

Jamaica has received its first 50,000 doses of vaccines donated by India to fight the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Report informs referring to the Jamaica Information Service.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness accepted the vaccines from India’s High Commissioner to Jamaica Rungsung Masakui.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness also expects some 14,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines on or before March 11.

Another 1.8 million doses are to be supplied to Jamaica, starting in April, under the African Medical Supply platform.

Jamaica has recorded 878 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
