Italy reports record number of recovering from COVID-19 per day

The number of coronavirus-related deaths in Italy was 542 people in a single day, which is a slight decrease compared to the previous day (604).

According to the head of the Department of Civil Protection Angelo Borrelli, the total number of coronavirus victims since the beginning of the epidemic has exceeded 17.6 thousand in Italy, while the total grew by 1,195. In parallel, the number of people who had recovered hit 2,099 for a total of 26,491 - marking the most significant one-day improvement thus far during the outbreak.

Borrelli noted that 95,262 people are currently contracted the virus in Italy. The total number of people infected since the beginning of the epidemic, including those who recovered and died, was 139,422. The day before the country confirmed 135,586 cases of COVID-19.

According to the Italian media, the number of doctors who died from coronavirus reached 96 people.
