Israel refuses to issue visas to UN officials

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan says the country will deny visas to UN officials after remarks by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Report informs, citing The Time of Israel.

“Due to his remarks we will refuse to issue visas to UN representatives,” Erdan tells Army Radio.

“We have already refused a visa for Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffiths,” Erdan said.

According to information, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres tried to walk back his remarks.

“The grievances of the Palestinian people cannot justify the horrific attacks by Hamas,” Guterres said on X, adding: “Those horrendous attacks cannot justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.”

Thus, Israeli officials railed at Guterres after he told the UN Security Council, “It is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum,” with many calling on him to resign.
