Israel launches airstrikes on military installations in Syria, there are casualties

Five Syrian soldiers were injured as a result of Israeli rocket fire on the city of Homs and its environs, the Syrian state agency SANA said, citing a military source, Report informs.

According to the source, the attack occurred at about 00:35 local time (GMT+3) and the Syrian air defenses shot down some of the missiles.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the strikes targeted military installations in the area, in particular the Dabaa military airport. The organization notes that it was the ninth attack by Israel since the beginning of the year.

In recent months, Israel has been attacking airports and air bases in Syria. This should prevent Iran from ramping up its use of air supply lines to deliver weapons to allies in Syria and Lebanon, wrote The Times of Israel.

The newspaper noted that the Israeli leadership had admitted to carrying out hundreds of sorties against Iranian-backed groups that are trying to gain a foothold in Syria.

On March 31, the Syrian Defense Ministry announced an Israeli missile attack on Damascus. The agency noted that some of the missiles were intercepted by air defense systems, but the attack caused "some material damage."
