Israel declares martial law

A martial law was declared in Israel due to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, Report informs, citing Al Jazeera.

“In connection with this, all protest demonstrations scheduled for October 7 in the country have been postponed, Al Jazeera said.

The authorities call on the population not to leave shelters and safe places.

Hamas, the group running the besieged Gaza Strip, announced the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood against Israel.

According to information, 5,000 rockets were launched from the Gaza Strip into Israel within 20 minutes.

There were also reports that Israeli soldiers were captured. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant announced the mobilization of the reservists.

Reporting from the Gaza strip, Al Jazeera’s Youmna al Sayed says that Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigade firing long-range rockets in the first hour of the attack, is “very significant.”

“We usually see them being fired at the end of the escalation as was the case in the previous major confrontation in 2021. So this operation is starting in the highest extent. It is not just a threat or an attack sending warning messages. It is actually a sign that Hamas is carrying out an operation on the widest scale that they could and other Palestinian factions in Gaza, have also joined this battle,” she said.
