Israel declares day of national mourning

May 2 has been declared a day of national mourning over the tragedy caused by the religious festival stampede in Israel, with attendees describing scenes of chaos, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in a video message, Report informs, citing RIA Novosti.

At least 44 people have been killed in a crash at a crowded religious festival in the northeast of Israel on April 30.

Dozens more were injured at the Lag B'Omer festival, which takes place annually at the foot of Mount Meron.
