Israel and Hezbollah trade accusations of ceasefire violations

Just a day after the ceasefire took effect, Israel and Hezbollah have exchanged accusations of violating the truce.

Report informs via foreign media that the Israeli military claimed that their air force struck a facility used by Hezbollah to store medium-range missiles in southern Lebanon.

They also stated that they opened fire on "suspects" in vehicles, considering such actions a breach of the ceasefire.

In response, Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah accused Israel of violating the agreements, alleging that Israeli forces are attacking people returning to border villages. The Israeli airstrike on Thursday marked the first since the ceasefire came into effect.

Lebanese security sources and broadcaster Al Jadeed reported that Israel carried out an airstrike north of the Litani River. Notably, the ceasefire agreement only mandates the dismantling of unauthorized military sites south of the Litani River.

On Thursday, Israeli forces reinstated a curfew restricting the movement of residents in southern Lebanon south of the Litani River from 5:00 pm to 7:00 am local time.

The exchange of accusations highlighted the fragility of the ceasefire, which was mediated by the US and France to end the conflict. The ceasefire was established for 60 days in hopes of achieving a permanent cessation of hostilities.
