Iran has condemned the US strikes on its territory, stating that they have made the two-month ceasefire "virtually meaningless."
According to Report, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the attacks carried out by the United States in recent hours "not only constitute a blatant violation [of the agreement], but also render the ceasefire virtually meaningless."
"The responsibility for the extremely serious consequences of this criminal act lies with the leadership of the United States," the ministry added.
On April 8, 2026, the United States and Iran reached an official two-week ceasefire agreement. Throughout April and May, the ceasefire was repeatedly extended to facilitate peace negotiations.
Under the terms of the agreement, Iran committed to suspending military operations and reopening the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping, while the United States agreed to suspend its military ultimatum.
