Iran’s first president dies in Paris

Abul-Hassan Bani-Sadr, the first president of the Republic of Iran after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, died at the age of 88 in France, where he has resided for a long time, Report informs, citing foreign media.

Bani-Sadr died Saturday at Salpetriere Hospital in Paris after suffering a long illness.

Bani Sadr was elected President of Iran in January 1980, the first president after the revolution. Khomeini overthrew him in 1981, and he moved to Paris.
