India sets new anti-record for COVID death toll

India has registered 348,421 new cases of coronavirus infection over the past day, and the total number of those infected during the entire epidemic in the country has reached 23,340,938, according to the website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Report informs referring to RIA Novosti.

The number of deaths associated with this infection has increased by 4,205 over the past day and amounted to 254,197.

The daily number of deaths associated with coronavirus infection has set another anti-record in India. The previous highest death rate in 24 hours was recorded on May 8 and amounted to 4,187 people, previously such an anti-record was recorded on May 6 and amounted to 3,980 people.

India ranks second in the world (after the US) in terms of the total number of people infected with coronavirus and the third in terms of the number of deaths related to this infection (after the US and Brazil).
