India sets anti-record for number of daily COVID cases

India has set another anti-record for the number of new COVID cases. Thus, over the past day, 414,100 new infection cases have been identified in the country, according to the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Report informs referring to RIA Novosti.

The country ranks second in the world in terms of the number of detected cases. According to the latest data from the ministry, the total number of people with COVID-19 in the country has exceeded 21.4 million. More than 17.6 million people have recovered and 234,000 people have died with coronavirus and related diseases.

The rise in the number of cases in India has continued since mid-February, bringing the number of COVID patients to more than 3.6 million. The number of new cases for more than two weeks in a row has exceeded 300,000 people per day - more than in any other country in the world, and has already exceeded 400,000 three times.
