India's daily COVID-19 cases surpass 37 thousand

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India increased by more than 37.1 thousand per day, bringing the country's official figure to 1,155,191, Report says, citing RIA Novosti. 

India stands at the third position in the number of coronavirus cases, with the US leading the table followed by Brazil.

According to the latest data, 402,529 people receive treatment in the country, 24,577 recovered from the virus, (24,491 per day), while 28,084 patients passed away (587 per day).

According to the latest figures published by Johns Hopkins University, 14,703,293 cases have been detected worldwide, with 609,887 deaths, and 8,290,431 people recovered.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China's Hubei province, and the virus has spread to over 200 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
