Floods in Uttar Pradesh have forced the evacuation of 16,784 people and left three dead, local authorities said, Report informs via Hindustan Times.
The disaster has affected 23 of the state's 35 districts, with warnings of possible renewed flooding in some areas. In Ballia district, rising waters in the Ganges and Sarayu rivers have impacted around 20,500 residents.
Among the victims were an 18‑month‑old child in Pratapgarh, a 32‑year‑old woman, and a 55‑year‑old man in Gajraula. Hundreds of homes have also been damaged.
Rescue operations have deployed 1,499 boats and motor launches, along with 1,067 medical teams. Authorities have established 1,311 temporary shelters for displaced residents.
