India detects unknown disease in 848 people

In southern India and elsewhere, the number of cases of unnamed illnesses has risen to 848.

Report informs, citing foreign media, that 332 people have already been released from hospitals.

Residents of southern India began to seek medical treatment on December 5 with symptoms of an unknown disease. Patients show signs of fainting, dizziness, headache, and epilepsy.

The results of coronavirus tests in patients were negative. Doctors said the disease was not related to the pandemic. Also, it is not transmitted from person to person.

According to the Times of India, toxic chlorine, its organic compounds, and mosquito repellents can cause the condition. Some experts attribute it to the contamination of drinking water with heavy metals, pesticides, and phosphorus compounds.

Earlier, the country recorded that 350 people contracted the unknown illness, and one died.
