Imports of Chinese passenger cars to the US during the eleven months of 2024 reached a record high for this period, according to data from the American statistical agency, Report informs.
Total purchases of passenger cars from China to the US for January - November 2024 amounted to $3.35 billion, which is 65% more compared to the previous year. These figures were the highest for the entire observation period, starting from 1992.
In November, imports amounted to $459.5 million, which is the highest value since August 2024. Compared to November 2023, purchase volumes increased fourfold, and by 15% over the month.
The largest share of imports for the eleven months of 2024 consisted of vehicles with internal combustion engines from 1500 to 3000 cubic centimeters - worth $1.73 billion, as well as snowmobiles, golf carts and similar vehicles - worth $917.8 million, and hybrid vehicles - worth $458.8 million.
During this period, China ranked tenth in passenger car supplies to the US. The top five main suppliers were Mexico ($45.3 billion), Japan ($36.3 billion), South Korea ($34.8 billion), Canada ($26.2 billion), and Germany ($22.7 billion).
