The Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will hold an emergency meeting on Thursday at the request of the Ukrainian side, Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said in his Telegram channel.
"Tomorrow, the IAEA Board of Governors will hold an emergency meeting at Ukraine's request to discuss the consequences of unstable energy infrastructure critical for nuclear power plant safety," said the diplomat.
According to him, linking these two topics together is "far-fetched" and goes beyond the IAEA's mandate.
Permanent IAEA missions began working at all Ukrainian nuclear power plants in 2023. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi explained that the organization's inspectors would monitor the condition of electrical substations providing external power supply to Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
