Heavy rains in southern India kill two people

Heavy rains that hit southern India led to flooding in parts of Chennai and the death of two people, Report informs via TASS.

According to law enforcement agencies, due to bad weather, a recently built wall in the city collapsed, trapping people under the rubble. “Two people were killed and one was seriously injured,” police said.

The downpour, accompanied by strong gusts of wind, led to the destruction of houses and disruption of power lines. Many roads and squares of the city are flooded. Rescuers had to evacuate several dozen people from flooded areas.

Chennai Airport suspended arrivals and departures of aircraft for several hours. Suburban train services have also been temporarily suspended.
