Global COVID-19 cases surpass 57 million

The number of global COVID-19 cases has reached 57,490,907, Report says, citing the statistics of individual countries.

The United States saw the highest incidence of coronavirus infection, as 11,981,180 people have contracted the disease so far. India ranks second with 8,999,049 cases in this South Asian country.

In Brazil, 5,952,185 people were diagnosed with COVID-19. This figure is 2,860,288 in France, 2,150,608 in Russia, 1,574,063 in Spain, 1,453,256 in Britain and 1,339,337 in Argentina.

During the pandemic, 1,362,255 fell victim to the virus, while 39,617,466 patients recovered.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to more than 200 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
