Germany to pay additional $10M for membership in Council of Europe

The German government will pay an additional $ 10 million in membership fees to compensate for the losses caused by Russia's withdrawal from the Council of Europe (CoE), German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said at the 132nd Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Turin, Italy, Report informs.

"We will discuss what Russia's withdrawal from the organization means strategically. The need to compensate for the missing membership fee should not affect the Council's work. The Council of Europe is more important now than before," she added.

According to her, the federal government will henceforth pay an additional $10 million in membership fees to provide compensation.
