Germany extends quarantine period

The quarantine regime in Germany has been extended until March 28 to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, Report informs, citing foreign media.

However, federal-state leaders reserve the right to decide whether to make concessions.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel commented on the decision at a press conference in Berlin:

"We must take steps to eliminate the lockdown. But we must follow these measures carefully so that we do not fall back. The spring of 2021 will be different from the last year."

As a first step, book and flower shops, horticultural markets, beauty salons, and driving schools are planned to open on March 8.

Partial opening of restaurants, cinemas, and retail stores from March 22 is not excluded. It will only be possible if strict hygiene rules are followed.
