Germany has allocated a new comprehensive aid package for Ukraine worth more than €1.3 billion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced during a joint press conference in Kyiv with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, according to Report's Eastern Europe bureau.
Zelenskyy said the package includes weapons, support for Ukraine's energy sector, and funding for the production of new interceptor drones designed to counter Shahed drones.
"We have a new comprehensive support package for Ukraine worth more than €1.3 billion. It includes weapons that will help us now, support for our energy sector, and a very important energy package for the coming winter," Zelenskyy said.
According to the Ukrainian president, Ukraine and Germany have also signed 15 agreements and documents on security cooperation. These cover weapons production, procurement projects, orders for German industry, and joint initiatives to be implemented directly in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy estimated the total value of these agreements at more than €8.5 billion.
Merz, in turn, noted that additional military cooperation with Ukraine had also been agreed upon, although he declined to provide details. The German chancellor emphasized Germany's support for Kyiv amid ongoing security threats from Russia.
"Germany stands with Ukraine without limits," Merz said.
He also argued that Russia's economy is not capable of sustaining the war indefinitely, stating that it is experiencing the peak of a downturn caused by the conflict.
Merz added that cooperation between the two countries should also include joint projects and business activities.
