German farmers have blocked the entrances and parking lot of the NDR broadcasting company in Hannover to protest against the removal of subsidies, Report informs referring to Bild.
“On Monday morning, a considerable number of farmers and representatives of medium-sized businesses gathered in front of the NDR broadcasting center in Hannover,” the report notes. More than 30 tractors and two dozen other vehicles blocked the entrances and parking lots of the TV and radio company.
Organizers criticize what they consider to be insufficient coverage of farmers’ demonstrations and are demanding the repeal of a state budget item adopted by the Bundestag last week that includes cutting fuel subsidies for farmers.
In December, the country’s government announced measures to save the state budget due to the budget crisis. It intends to cancel subsidies on diesel fuel for forestry and agriculture; this item of the state budget already adopted by the Bundestag will be considered on March 22 in the Bundesrat. After the announcement of these plans, German farmers began protests.
