Gaston Samut: Our children cannot fully use their native language

Children and youth cannot fully use their native language, which can lead to its disappearance, Gaston Samut, a representative of the Popular Union for the Liberation of Guadeloupe, said at a press conference in Baku, Report informs.

"The main problem is that children are not allowed to fully use their native languages. The French educational system is structured in such a way that the younger generation is forced to use only the language of the metropolis - French. This is because France seeks to assimilate the local population of the overseas territories and, first of all, through the imposition of language. Ultimately, this may result in the problem that children will not be able to fully use their native language in communicating with each other," he noted.
