French PM passes law bypassing parliament for 22nd time

French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne invoked Article 49.3 of the constitution to initiate the procedure for passing France's 2024 budget bill without a vote, Report informs via BFM TV.

Elizabeth Borne again resorted to Article 49.3 of the constitution in relation to the entire text of the bill in a new reading in the national assembly, the channel said.

The left-wing party "France Unbowed" said it would put forward a vote of no confidence in the government. If it is rejected, the bill will be considered adopted. Final approval of the French budget bill for 2024 through the implementation of Article 49.3 of the constitution is expected at the end of next week, the channel said.

During her tenure as Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne has invoked Article 49.3 of the French Constitution 22 times.
