French Parliament’s left-wing coalition declares support for vote of no confidence in gov’t

The left-wing coalition of the French parliament, the New Ecological and Social People’s Union (NUPES), will support a proposal to pass a vote of no confidence in the government of the republic against the backdrop of Prime Minister Élisabeth Bornes announcement of a pension reform bypassing a vote in parliament, said Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of the NUPES party, Report informs referring to TASS.

“We have decided to maximize the chances of a no-confidence vote, so we have decided to withdraw our own application in favor of the proposal of the LIOT group (a group of independent deputies and representatives of overseas territories),” he said.

The politician also added that he urged the country’s residents to take part in both spontaneous and organized by trade union centers protests against pension reform.
