France may impose third quarantine regime over COVID

The French authorities may have to decide on introducing a third coronavirus quarantine regime if the sanitary situation in the country worsens, Prime Minister Jean Castex said in an interview with the Ouest-France newspaper, Report informs referring to TASS.

‘No one can be sure that we will be able to overcome the epidemic without introducing a new quarantine regime. In recent days the rate of the epidemic in France has slowed down. This was achieved thanks to the measures that the authorities have taken over several weeks. The new lockdown will be introduced if the situation deteriorates sharply,’ he said.

At the same time, he stressed that such quarantine ‘is an extreme measure because if its positive impact on the fight against the epidemic is known, at the same time its negative consequences in the social, humanitarian, and even sanitary spheres are obvious.’
