France braces for security challenges in upcoming snap elections

The French Interior Ministry has issued a stark warning to the National Assembly (lower house of parliament) about significant security risks, particularly the threat of terrorism, during the upcoming snap elections, according to BFMTV, Report informs via TASS.

The voting will take place against a backdrop of numerous security threats, with the danger of terrorist attacks remaining extremely high. Law enforcement agencies also anticipate the possibility of cyberattacks and information manipulation on social media platforms.

This heightened state of alert comes at a crucial time in French politics. On June 9, French President Emmanuel Macron made the decision to dissolve the National Assembly following a defeat in the European Parliament elections. This move has set the stage for early parliamentary elections, with the first round of voting scheduled for June 30 and the second round for July 7.
