Floods kill at least 12 in northeast India

At least 12 people have died as a result of flooding caused by heavy rains in the northeastern Indian states of Assam and Meghalaya, Report informs referring to NDTV channel.

The natural calamity affected 400,000 people, whose housing was completely or partially destroyed. Areas affected by floods and landslides are cut off from the central territories of the country due to the collapse of bridges and roads. Railway communication was interrupted, power lines were cut off.

Indian air force helicopters are involved in rescue operations in Assam and Meghalaya. According to weather forecasts, showers will continue in the north-east of the country for another three days.
