Five EU countries call on EC to extend ban on import of Ukrainian grain

The authorities of Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland and Slovakia require the European Commission to prolong the ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine, Report informs.

This was stated by the Agriculture Minister of Hungary, Istvan Nagy, quoted by the Hungarian online business newspaper Világgazdaság.

"The European Commission should extend the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain after September 15," the minister said.

He also added that Hungary shares the position of Bulgaria, Poland, Romania and Slovakia on this issue.

According to Nagy, this is the only way to protect the interests of European farmers.

According to him, Hungarian farmers received €15.93 million in compensation from the European Union, which is rather a "symbolic amount compared to the amount of damage."
