Finland surprized by Ukraine’s demand to transfer Allegro trains to Kyiv

The Finnish government has baffled Kyiv’s demand to hand over four high-speed trains to Ukrainian Railways that previously ran between St. Petersburg and Helsinki, Report informs via Demokraatti.

The state railway company of Finland VR has received an official request from Ukraine for the transfer of Allegro trains. The trains claimed by Kyiv are made in Italy and belong not only to Finland, but also to the Karelian Trains company. According to the Finnish publication, the transfer of trains can take place only with the full consent of the owners, and this is hardly possible given that they are half the property of the Russian company.

“Ukraine’s statement about the desire to use Allegro high-speed trains located in Finland amazed the Finnish leadership“, the article says.
