Finland says 2 checkpoints stopped operation on border with Russia

Two temporary border crossing points (BCP) on the border with Russia - Parikkala and Inari - are completely ceasing operations, according to the Finnish Border Guard, Report informs via TASS.

Traffic through the Inari BCP was stopped on November 1, 2021, and through Parikkala from April 19, 2022.

In February, a representative of the Finnish Border Guard, Marko Saareks, said that Russian authorities had proposed closing these border points.

"Traffic through both temporary border crossings has been suspended for a long time by decision of the respective border commissioners... The possible opening of temporary border crossing points in the future is possible in accordance with the previously mentioned agreement on border crossing points," reads the message.
